Size

When you want more coverage without giving up easy access for monitoring or an epidural, the Lilac Bloom Universal Labor & Delivery Gown gives you short sleeves, a midweight jersey feel, and full-length Velcro openings down both the front and back.

Why I picked it: I picked Lilac Bloom for the mom who wants the Universal access features in a softer, prettier print. I also want you to know the tradeoff: this style has more Velcro than the Ruffle Strap gown, and the fabric can feel warmer and thicker. If you run hot or get annoyed by closures catching, that’s worth weighing before you pack it.

Details that matter

  • 65% polyester / 35% cotton midweight jersey with short sleeves
  • Full-length Velcro opening down the front for monitoring, ultrasound access, and skin-to-skin
  • Full-length Velcro opening down the back for epidural placement
  • Shoulder snaps for nursing access
  • Two pockets for a phone, lip balm, hair tie, or whatever you keep reaching for
  • Widest sizing of the two styles, with options from S/M/L through 3X/4X when available
  • Lilac Bloom is a pale floral lilac-grey print. If staining would upset you, it may be better saved for recovery or first photos instead of active delivery.

Hospital note

Many hospitals allow personal gowns, but policies vary. Confirm during your L&D tour or with your care team, and know staff may ask you to change. Personal gowns can be stained, damaged, or cut off in an emergency. For a C-section in the OR, expect to change into the hospital’s sterile gown.
